To Whom it May Concern,
As someone who is passionate about the innovative use of technology and AI to solve some of the world’s most pressing issues, I was delighted to see Gradiant hiring for the role of Machine Learning Developer. I believe my experience and varied skillset make me perfect for the role; I have a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Bath, which is home to the Water Innovation & Research Centre (WIRC) and during my time at university I completed a research project helping to develop novel water treatment technologies, which has helped nurture my passion for water. I also have some professional experience working as a Process Engineer in addition to several years’ experience applying Machine Learning techniques to process industries.
In total I have 3 years’ experience in Data Science and Machine Learning, working across a range of industries applying statistical and machine learning techniques to business problems. I have worked as a Data Scientist at global engineering firm Wood and as a Senior Data Science Consultant for Deloitte. In both roles I’ve worked as part of teams delivering digital expertise in data-driven solutions for clients. Projects I have worked on include forecasting time series data for a client in the water industry using LSTMs, as well as optimising a commercial site’s energy usage to run on mostly renewable power using deep learning and gradient boosting algorithms. My professional experience is mostly in Python (including toolkits such as Numpy, Scikit-learn and Tensorflow), but I also have experience using SQL, Scala and R. I have worked in both individual and team settings and have taken a leading role in helping develop solutions operating at the interface of data science and software engineering, requiring me to have a working understanding of data structures, algorithms and software design. I graduated from the University of Bath in 2018 with First Class Honours in MEng, Chemical Engineering.
I would relish the opportunity to work as part of the team at Gradiant, developing innovative solutions using the latest technologies for one of the world’s most important industries. I would describe myself as a self-starter who thrives on solving difficult problems and constantly learning, as well as being highly industrious and possessing excellent communication skills.
I would be delighted to discuss my application further and look forward to hearing from you.
