En extrayant de l'eau douce de son flux de rejet de saumure, le syst\u00e8me CFRO de Gradiant a permis d'augmenter l'efficacit\u00e9 des usines de dessalement d'eau de mer de SAWACO.<sup>TM<\/sup> \u00a0peut doubler la production d'eau douce des op\u00e9rations de dessalement par osmose inverse existantes de SAWACO, sans apport suppl\u00e9mentaire d'eau de mer ni travaux de pr\u00e9traitement.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Plus de 54% de l'eau de l'Arabie saoudite proviennent actuellement d'usines de dessalement, ce qui en fait le plus grand producteur d'eau de dessalement au monde. SAWACO, le plus grand fournisseur d'eau potable non embouteill\u00e9e du royaume, poss\u00e8de et exploite des usines de dessalement qui produisent plus de 30 000 m\u00e8tres cubes par jour (m3\/j). L'eau produite par SAWACO est essentielle pour la consommation domestique, l'am\u00e9nagement paysager, l'irrigation, l'agriculture et les industries telles que le p\u00e9trole et le gaz, la p\u00e9trochimie et l'h\u00f4tellerie en Arabie saoudite.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>En raison du climat aride de l'Arabie saoudite, de l'absence de lacs et de rivi\u00e8res naturels et du fait que la consommation d'eau par habitant est l'une des plus \u00e9lev\u00e9es au monde, pr\u00e8s du double de celle de l'Europe, la p\u00e9nurie d'eau constitue une menace s\u00e9rieuse pour la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et la stabilit\u00e9 du royaume. SAWACO, t\u00e9moin de ce d\u00e9fi, a cherch\u00e9 \u00e0 augmenter la production d'eau pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 la demande croissante, mais n'a pas pu le faire sans augmenter consid\u00e9rablement l'impact environnemental et les d\u00e9penses d'investissement. Malgr\u00e9 l'abondance des rejets de saumure pr\u00e9trait\u00e9e issus du processus d'osmose inverse, il n'existait aucune technologie viable permettant d'utiliser la saumure comme ressource pour la production d'eau douce jusqu'\u00e0 l'introduction du CFRO de Gradiant.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Le proc\u00e9d\u00e9 CFRO de Gradiant est une m\u00e9thode innovante con\u00e7ue pour relever les d\u00e9fis inh\u00e9rents qui limitent le taux de r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration de l'eau de l'OI conventionnelle de l'eau de mer. En manipulant le gradient de pression osmotique \u00e0 travers la membrane \u00e0 l'aide d'une solution saline (balayage), le proc\u00e9d\u00e9 CFRO peut concentrer davantage le rejet de saumure d'une usine d'OI conventionnelle \u00e0 partir de 8% jusqu'au niveau de saturation en sel \u00e0 25%. Tout en concentrant la solution saline, le dispositif \u00e0 contre-courant du proc\u00e9d\u00e9 CFRO dilue simultan\u00e9ment la solution, produisant ainsi une eau potable hautement purifi\u00e9e.
