Tech talk: AI for Wastewater Enters Its Next Phase of Practical Application | GWI UltraFacility

Industrial wastewater treatment facility with digital overlays representing AI-driven monitoring and predictive analytics.

AI in wastewater is moving from promise to practice. And Gradiant is already there.

A new UltraFacility interview with Global Water Intelligence (GWI) looks at how better sensing, cleaner data, and smarter analytics are pushing AI from theory into day-to-day operations. Gradiant and Turing are featured for using smart sensors and AI to predict key water quality parameters from limited data, giving operators real-time insight without the need to monitor every contaminant.

With SmartOps AI, teams can move from reacting to problems to anticipating them. That translates to lower chemical and energy use, less downtime, and more reliable performance. Digital twins are evolving from basic, data-driven models to true holistic system simulations, using AI and process knowledge to better understand how treatment systems will behave.

AI does not require a full system overhaul. There is growing demand for digital solutions that can be retrofitted into industrial and semiconductor facilities, offering a practical starting point for existing sites.
