The Senior Proposal Manager is a crucial role responsible for leading the development and presentation of innovative and competitive proposals to clients in a variety of industries. This position involves working closely with the Sales team and other functions to ensure a competitive design and commercial offering for a diverse set of ultrapure water and wastewater treatment projects. The Senior Proposal Manager plays a key role in aligning technical and commercial offerings with the needs of the customer and then presenting a compelling value proposition.
Responsibilities:
Support the Sales team in collaborating with clients to deeply understand their needs, including system key performance indicators (KPIs), schedule, scope, specifications, and budget
Lead cross-functional teams, including Sales, Application Engineers, Process Engineers, Estimators, and contractors, in the development of competitive designs, scopes of work, labor and equipment estimates, execution schedules, etc. to enable successful proposals
Coordinate support from other functions, including Project Management, Engineering, Design, Quality Control, Supply Chain, Finance, and Legal to ensure the proposed offerings meet the customer needs while also satisfying the Company’s requirements
Coordinate with Marketing to craft high-quality, bespoke proposals for advanced ultrapure water and wastewater treatment solutions
Lead the authoring of all proposal sections with support from relevant disciplines
Lead proposal risk reviews with senior management to ensure successful projects
Provide a blend of technical and commercial support to the Sales team during client presentations, ensuring clear and accurate communication of proposal details
Manage proposal updates to the Sales team as well as senior management
Mentor junior proposal managers and application engineers on proposal management, proposal writing, tailing of offerings to best meet the needs of customers
Stay up-to-date with advancements in water treatment technologies and competitors’ offerings, and share knowledge within the organization
Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in Sales and/or Proposal Management within the water treatment industry
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
Proven experience developing successful proposals on complex projects (e.g. several integrated unit operations, installation scope, off site manufacturing, international supply chain, etc.)
Broad knowledge of water treatment technologies, equipment, and processes
Problem-solving mindset and the ability to lead cross-functional teams
Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality proposals
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Excellent communication skills (the ability to write well is required)
Ability to travel (20%) to meet with clients, partners, and contractors
