Engineering Director

About the Job

The Engineering Director is a key management role responsible for leading the team responsible for design and engineering of equipment for ultrapure water (UPW), wastewater treatment, and chemical processing capital projects. The individual in this position will play a crucial role in designing, selecting, and overseeing the installation and commissioning of various mechanical components and equipment within UPW and wastewater treatment systems. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of projects while adhering to industry standards and best practices.

The Role

  • Develop and implement the engineering department’s strategic vision aligned with the overall business objectives.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the engineering and design team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project integration from conception to completion.
  • Utilize deep technical knowledge in water treatment processes, equipment, and technologies to guide engineering initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to inform decision-making.
  • Establish and enforce quality standards for engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, project specifications, and company policies.
  • Implement and oversee robust QA/QC processes to guarantee the reliability and performance of water treatment systems.
  • Manage and optimize the allocation of engineering resources, including personnel, equipment, and budget.
  • Work closely with HR to recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent.
  • Foster effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, including sales, proposals, and project management, to ensure alignment with customer needs and market demands.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, clients, and suppliers.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Significant experience (typically 10+ years) of progressive experience in engineering roles with expertise in UPW and/or wastewater treatment systems.
  • Proven track record of successful project management and leadership in complex engineering environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of water treatment processes, technologies, and equipment.
  • Familiarity with industry standards.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans to drive business objectives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
