The Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and procedures for site construction projects and operations, in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Provide safety training and education to all construction personnel, subcontractors, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Prepare and maintain required project documentation and records related to safety inspections, training, incidents, and compliance activities. This will include but is not limited to, weekly incident summaries, pre-task plans, job hazard analyses, toolbox talks, and inspection reports.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to integrate safety considerations into project planning and execution.
  • Review construction plans, designs, and specifications to identify safety-related issues and propose solutions.
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to construction safety.
  • Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies, client representatives, and other external stakeholders on safety-related matters.
  • Foster a culture of safety awareness and accountability among all employees, promoting the importance of safety as a core value of Gradiant.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety management, preferably within an industrial setting.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant safety regulations, standards, and best practices, including OSHA regulations.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively train, motivate, and influence others.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating safety risks.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and software used for safety management, documentation, and reporting.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
